What is an AI Domain?
An AI is only as clever as what it was trained on. Feed it numbers and it learns about numbers. Feed it photographs and it learns about photographs. That is the whole idea behind domains.
1Domains, in one sentence
Pick a domain and it rises. What is standing on the pedestal is the data that domain is fed. Drag sideways to turn.
2The three domains
| Domain | Fed with | It learns to |
|---|---|---|
| Statistical Data | Numbers and tables | Find meaning in large amounts of data |
| Computer Vision (CV) | Images and video | See — get information out of pixels |
| Natural Language Processing (NLP) | Words, written and spoken | Read and listen to human language |

3The question that decides it
Numbers and tables → Statistical Data.
Pictures or video → Computer Vision.
Words, typed or spoken → NLP.
A hospital project could be any of the three. Predicting patient numbers from records is Statistical Data. Reading an X-ray is Computer Vision. Understanding what a patient typed into a form is NLP. “A hospital project” tells you nothing; the input tells you everything.
